Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

None. Klyn does not collect, transmit, store on our behalf, sell or share any personal information.

Specifically, Klyn does not:

• require a Klyn account or an email address to use the photo and contact tools;
• include analytics, telemetry, advertising or crash-reporting software;
• track you across apps or websites, or build any profile of you;
• upload your photos, videos, contacts or documents anywhere.

Klyn does not connect to any server we operate, because there is no such server. The app's photo, contact and Vault features make no network requests at all and work with no connection.

1a. If you connect a mailbox

The Mail feature is optional and off until you connect an account yourself. When you do, these are the only connections Klyn makes, and all of them are from your iPhone to a party you already have a relationship with — never to us.

• Your mail provider. Klyn connects to Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail or a server you enter over encrypted IMAP. Outlook uses Microsoft sign-in and Microsoft Graph over HTTPS. These connections let Klyn list what is in your mailbox and move or delete what you choose.
• An unsubscribe address, only when you ask. If you unsubscribe from a mailing list, Klyn uses the unsubscribe address that sender published in their own message. That request carries no cookies and nothing identifying beyond the link the sender generated for you.

What Klyn reads. Message headers and sizes — who sent it, when, the subject, and how many bytes it takes up. Klyn does not download message bodies or attachments.

Where your credentials are kept. IMAP app passwords and Outlook sign-in tokens are stored in the iPhone Keychain, marked so they never leave this device or travel in a backup. They are used only to talk to your provider. You can revoke access with your provider.

What we receive. Nothing. No mail, no addresses, no counts, no record that you connected an account at all.

2. What Klyn accesses on your device

To do its job, Klyn reads data that already exists on your iPhone. All of this processing happens on the device itself, using Apple's on-device frameworks. Nothing is sent anywhere.

• Your photo library. Klyn reads photos and videos to find duplicates, near-identical shots, screenshots, large videos, Live Photos, and blurry or dark images. Image analysis runs on-device using Apple's Vision framework.
• Your contacts, if you use the contacts cleaner, to find duplicate and incomplete entries.
• Device storage figures — how much space is used and free — to show the storage gauge and the home-screen widget.
• Battery level and charging state, only so the optional charging animation can appear while your phone is plugged in.

A small amount of information is stored on your device so the app and its widget can share it: your storage figures, how much space your last cleanup freed, your settings, and identifiers of photos already analysed so a scan need not repeat itself. This stays in Klyn's own container on your iPhone.

3. Permissions we ask for

Every permission is optional and requested only when the feature that needs it is used. Klyn keeps working, with those features unavailable, if you decline. You can change any of them at any time in iOS Settings.

• Photos. To find and, at your instruction, remove items taking up space. Klyn asks for full access because it cannot compare photos it cannot see; "Limited" access also works, on the photos you select.
• Contacts. Only for the contacts cleaner, to find and merge duplicates.
• Camera. Only to scan paper documents directly into the Vault. Klyn does not record video or take photographs in the background.
• Face ID. Only to unlock your Vault. Authentication is handled entirely by iOS; Klyn receives a yes or no and never has access to your biometric data.
• Notifications, if you turn on cleanup reminders. These are scheduled locally on your device — there is no push server.

4. The Vault

The Vault stores photos and documents in Klyn's private container on your iPhone, protected by iOS complete file protection, meaning the files are encrypted while your device is locked. Your passcode is never stored: only a SHA-256 hash of it is kept in the iOS keychain.

There is no recovery. Neither we nor Apple can recover the contents of your Vault if you forget your passcode. Klyn tells you this before you set one. Vault contents are not backed up by us and, being inside the app's container, will be removed if you delete the app.

5. Purchases

Klyn Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment and tells your device whether the purchase is active. We never see, receive or store your name, payment card, billing address or Apple Account details.

Whether Pro is active is stored only on your device. Apple's own privacy policy governs the payment itself.

6. Third parties

Klyn includes no third-party SDKs, no advertising networks and no analytics providers. No data is shared with anyone, because none is collected.

Apple provides the App Store and In-App Purchase and may collect information under its own policies when you download or buy. That relationship is between you and Apple.

7. Children

Klyn is rated 4+ and suitable for all ages. It collects no data from anyone, including children, and contains no user-generated content, no social features and no external links to unmoderated content.

8. Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete and export the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to provide, correct or erase.

The data Klyn works with stays on your iPhone under your control. To remove all of it, delete the app — this removes Klyn's container, including the Vault, its settings and its cached analysis results. Photos and contacts in your own library are not affected by deleting the app.

9. Changes to this policy

If Klyn ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the date at the top before the change takes effect in a released version. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
